In 2004 Elizabeth Gomez designed and created a multidisciplinary performing arts school in Oakville Ontario, Stage It Performing Arts Studio. Her company garnered a reputation in the GTA for excellence in youth musical and theatre instruction and performance. Elizabeth went on to produce and direct 28 full scale musical theatre productions over the period of eleven years. Elizabeth was involved in all aspects of her productions from set design, prop sourcing and design, wardrobe, lighting, blocking and staging and the overall design of each show. In addition she has created and hosted multiple concerts and events in the community. Elizabeth has also offered students the opportunity to perform at Disney World and to participate in high level performing arts workshops both in Disney World and in New York on Broadway.
After having her first child Elizabeth closed Stage It Performing Arts Studio to take some time off to be with her family!! She has continued to keep busy coaching privately, offering workshops and working on new and interesting artistic projects. With nearly 18 years of experience working in the arts in Canada as owner of her own studio and at different arts organizations, The Canadian Opera Company, The Living Arts Centre, The Arts Umbrella and Vancouver Youth Theatre in outreach and arts education, Elizabeth is ready and excited to jump into her newest artistic venture! As a multi disciplinary artist Elizabeth has a long history of artist collaboration with choreographers, musicians, theatre professionals and other arts professionals. With her new company” Emergence Arts”, Elizabeth hopes to continue to work within all aspects of the arts offering unique and cutting edge workshops in performance, that inspire artists and unique performances that excite and engage audiences, both in her own community and the GTA.
Elizabeth holds a diploma in Marketing Communications and Public Relations from BCIT in Vancouver, her Grade Ten Voice from the RCM. She has taken post secondary courses from York University, Capilano College in singing and Theatre and trained with top vocal coaches in Canada and the US. She is a member of Nats. Recently Elizabeth has expanded her interest into design and is currently following a course of study with the Institute of Art and Design in New York. Samples of her work are featured on the site.
Through her studio Elizabeth has hosted a number of concerts, open mics and other performance events in the community. The Open Mic at the moonshine cafe in December is the first event this winter and there will be more concerts in the Spring and Summer of 2017. Keep checking here to see what is happening!!
