In 2004 Elizabeth Gomez designed and created a multidisciplinary performing arts school in Oakville Ontario, Stage It Performing Arts Studio. Her company garnered a reputation in the GTA for excellence in youth performing arts instruction and her productions were widely attended by hundreds of people in the GTA. Elizabeth went on to produce and direct twenty eight full scale musical and theatre productions over a period of eleven years, Elizabeth was involved in all aspects of her shows from set design, prop sourcing and design, musical direction, wardrobe, lighting, staging and the overall concept of each show in addition to organizing advertising, ticket sales and the administration and management of the studio. She has taken students to perform at Disney World and participate in high level performing arts workshops with Disney Broadway and the Broadway Student Summit in New York. Elizabeth loves producing all types of events, her studio hosted numerous uniquely themed evenings and events, a masquerade fundraising night in Toronto and many holiday concerts with diverse artistic themes for her clients and her community.
After having her first child Elizabeth felt she needed to close Stage It Performing Arts Studio to take some time off to be with her family and because she did not want the level of excellence her studio had garnered over the years to be compromised, while she dedicated her time to raising her daughter! Elizabeth has continued to keep busy coaching privately, offering workshops and working on new and interesting artistic projects. Currently working as the Chair of Music Education for The Sound Of Music Festival. Elizabeth is designing and programming unique concerts, workshops and events for the festival in addition to working on some outreach and community projects. This year she volunteered and offered educational and programming concepts to in Burlington Ontario. With 20 years of experience working in the arts in Canada as owner of her own studio and working with several arts organizations, The Canadian Opera Company, The Living Arts Centre, The Arts Umbrella and Vancouver Youth Theatre in outreach and arts education, Elizabeth is now ready and excited to jump into something new!!
With her new company EMERGENCE ARTS, Elizabeth hopes to continue her creative work designing unique events in her community, creating and implementing unique programming for festivals, studios, schools and other organizations, facilitating workshops and performing. Elizabeth holds a diploma in Marketing Communications and Public Relations from BCIT in Vancouver, her Grade Ten Voice from the RCM, post secondary courses from York University, and Capilano College in singing and Theatre and has trained with top vocal coaches in Canada and New York. She is a member of Nats.
Through her studio Elizabeth has hosted a number of concerts, open mics and other performance events in the community. The Open Mic at the moonshine cafe in December is the first event this winter and there will be more concerts in the Spring and Summer of 2017. Keep checking here to see what is happening!!
